Creation in Erasure
“Blackout” poetry, as coined by Austin Kleon, imagines an alternative meaning to a piece of writing by taking individual words out of their context and placing them in another. The blackout poet carves their own interpretations of the original work through this form of erasure. Most commonly used by the cynical, the bored, and those who yearn to play with something new.
